The weekend will offer a day of free street entertainment on Saturday 5th April outside Blackpool's St John's church on Church Street opposite the Winter Gardens. Following the theme of Admission All Classes the acts on offer will take a light hearted look at street theatre exploring the long tradition of stilt walkers, street stunts, a comic look at Morris dancing, street music, and Victorian puppet theatre.
On Sunday 6th April the Grand Theatre studio will play host to further talks on entertainment including a look at the famous Tiller Girls and a short collection of films of acts that have appeared in Blackpool. All talks are free of charge and will last approximately 1 hour.
11am: The story of the Tiller Girls by Doremy Vernon
Ex-tiller girl Doremy Vernon will take the audience through the history of the famous and glamorous dance troupe showing amazing images from her collection.
1pm: Entertainers on Film by Professor Vanessa Toulmin
Professor Vanessa Toulmin, Director of the National Fairground Archive, will be showing various clips of peculiar entertainments including the type of acts that appeared in Blackpool.
3pm: The Opera House by Barry Band
Barry Band will present a look at the Opera House Blackpool, based on his book, and will explore the varied and colourful and famous faces that have appeared there.
