The Performers
BareBack Burlesque troop
Look out for the beautiful, white, star covered horse that will be parading the promenade with his own breathtaking light up showgirls on board, creating lots of "did I just really see that?" moments. The BareBack Burlesque troop are Britain's only equestrian burlesque company and usually perform their very unique style of burlesque at exclusive parties up and down the country. They are incredibly proud to be joining the illumination team for this year's Switch On. And these showgirls aren't just pretty faces, they will be performing a dazzling array of gymnastic stunts and manoeuvres atop their glittering circus steed who also has a few tricks of his own up his furry sleeve!

The Great Voltini
Proprietor of the world's funniest electrocution show, first came to the attention of the public when, in July 2002, he appeared on 'V Graham Norton' and since then, with the voluptuous Nurse Electra by his side, he has toured the UK, Japan and Germany, played the part of Walford Bodie for the BBC's "Magic" Series and recently lit up the cabaret tent at Glastonbury. Tickets for this spectacular family-friendly show are free but must be reserved in advance.

Whoopee Beaux Belles
All female dance troupe, their name is inspired by the Bow Bells of London and the famous Parisian dance troupe the Bluebell Girls. All professional dancers, they have performed tap dancing and showgirl routines for numerous high profile events. Directed and produced by Whoopee their work traces the female dance troupes through history, from the original Victorian skirt dance (on which the Can Can was based) to music hall gaiety girls, to Busby Berkeley inspired routines. This troupe celebrates the idea of the showgirl as an emblem of female delight and power. The Whoopee Beaux Belles never fail to entertain and impress with their amazing skill and natural buoyancy. They are also very much women of their time and are unafraid to meet the audiences gaze with their own subversive wink.

Fire Circus
Red Sarah first shot to fame in 2004 at Whoopee's showcase for new talent: Hip Hip. She is one of the finest fire teasers in the UK and has performed worldwide over the last 10 years from Glastonbury to Edinburgh and from New Zealand to Austria she has scorched her image firmly at the top of her game. She is a major player in the neo-burlesque scene, where her fire tasseling routine is particular favourite, and recently scooped the prize for 'best British burlesque act' at an awards ceremony at London's Pigalle Club. For the Blackpool illuminations she will be making an exciting one off return to street performance with fellow fire artist extraordinaire Dan Crute.

The weekend will offer a series of open-air events of free shows and performances with performers allied to particular venues and sites in Blackpool all working on the theme of light and fire. Working with Blackpool Festival of Fire & Light and the Return of the Sun Festival, acts such as Madame Electra and Professor Voltina who recreate Professor Sparks famous Electrical Act from the London Paladium will work at particular venues to present free street theatre and entertainments for the visitors who are coming to enjoy the annual Illuminations Switch On. This will bring added entertainment to an already established event and will set the scene for the planned street entertainment festival.
